Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., ... | 08.14.2007 - 9:56 pm

Remember the New Wave era from the eighties? Groups like General Public, Industry, Aha, China Crisis and The Cure to name a few. And because I grew-up in the eighties, I still listens every now and then with New Wave! It brings back good memories. My favorite is “Chamber of Hellos” by “WIRETRAIN”. (I still dance whenever i hear it…lol) In case you forgotten the bands name, maybe you can recall the title of their song. Here are 125 songs from the New Wave Diary 1-9.

Dude, since you have quite a bit of background on the filipino new wave scene in the 80s, maybe you can help me out-I’m trying to find out recently what the title of the songs that the filipino band The Dawn played on the movie Olongapo-The American Dream. It was a film back in the late 80s, and the band played a few songs onstage in the bar scenes. If you could provide me with the titles of those songs in the film, I’d sure appreciate it,thanks

hi there planthony, nice of you to do some research on my list. By the way its “African and White” by China Crisis. It was my mistake that I place the hypen after the Blue. it should be African and White – Blue Kiss.

I never get tired listening to new wave songs.

Hi guys, just like you, i love new wave songs and still listens every weekend. Since 1983, i used to listen to such hits until end of 80’s. I have some records of rare waves and still can play it (LPs, 45 discs). Remember the “New Music” album? This includes Ramones, Figures on the Beach, Echo & the Bunnymen, and many others. One of the new wave songs that i really love is entitled “New Dreams for Old”, it’s very relaxing although fast, maybe because the artist sound like Morrisey. Guys, hope i could get feedback from you. Thanks…

“Salamat” was my fav. song by The Dawn..my tropa’s used to sing it on the karaoke bars near our school in ermita, manila. IMO, XB102, NU107 and Power 105 were the best radio stations we’ve had during the 80’s and early 90’s. New wavers forever!!

Posted on December 29, 2008

Hey hello!

Im looking for the names of the singers/bands from the list on the top…

“Stay” (4:02) – Its a cover by the Blue Nile with a nice female voice
“Bright new morning” (3:30)- nice mood and slow song almost acoustic
“Breaking away” (4:02) – sung by a male band with refrain in the back vocals “Breaking away”
“Thinking of you” (3:32)- With a kind of bossa nova flavor sung by a male singer. …”if you ever think of me I will be thinking of you” part of the lyric says.

Thank you for any help!

Enrico Morali,
“Thinking of You” sounds like the one from the Colourfield. (or was it Colorfield)

Am also looking for more songs by White China. Already have Smiles & Jokes, and Real World.
Also some hard to find songs by Big Dish.

Hey waver fans..
I think the version of flaming sword you seek is by lightning seeds.
Anyway, I’m trying to find a song with the lyrics, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight nine…the song talks about getting passed number nine because during step 10 it’s time for bed. I realize the lyrics are humorous/out of the ordinary as with a lot of new wave songs. I’ve found that a lot of them don’t make a lot of sense until you watch the videos. Then the chorus goes, all i want is youuuuuu. I realize this might be vague..but any suggestions would be welcomed. Also if you accept me in your group I believe i could contribute some of the names of songs and artists to my favorite 80’s/90’s music.

thanx.

Hello Waver Fans I just found a song by Kissing the Pink (KTP). Last year I remember listening to a rare song called certain things are likely. I highly recommend going to you-tube for a good musical experience in case you haven’t already done o.. While you’re there look up “Never Too Late” as well. The song is very up beat, cheerful and would be excellent dance music. There are some other artists I’ve been researching as well (e.g. the Damned with Captain Sensible who went solo and sang, “There’s More Snakes Than Latters” and the “War is Over” just to name a few. The specific songs I like from the Damned are their later stuff 1985-late 80’s) Anyway, I’m running out of steam..I’ll post more songs later..enjoy..

Hi Dee..

I’m glad that was the song!! I know the experience of tyring to find a particular song that has either been phased out or taken away from the general public. But the thrill of finding rare songs wouldn’t be as strong if it came easily. However, it does become frustrating when you think you know the lyrics to a song you heard 15 years ago and do a query on it only to come up empty handed. In my case I only remember the bridge to certain songs because of getting lost in the melody..lol grrrr.

Pagalingan kayo ng pagalingan ah…I was a kid of the eighties, I’m a g^%$amn relic for crying out loud…new wave, when WXB (you guys changed my life, I will never stop appreciating you!)used it, was a misnomer…it should have been indie or alternative or campus or whatever…but for lack of a better term they said that the music of the “brave new world” was nu-wave…actually, the new wave had surfaced quite a few years back with acts like 38 special, the police and the like…even the rolling stones went new wave, and electric light orchestra too. New wave was a movement that had record companies requiring the rock acts of the time to make more pop sounding radio friendly records…check out mick jagger’s start me up as an example. But in Manila, in the middle of the 80’s xb lumped together post punk, punk, brit-pop, real new wave, euro-pop, euro-rock and other genres together and called it new wave…not a bad idea, it caught on. It spawned hundreds of thousands of listeners and followers, it doesn’t matter what you call it…it is still the music that defined my generation. For that I will not fault those who called it that wrong name…I would hasten against calling it that but I’d say it was more than the name that made it special…it was the attitude carried by them young people who lived that lifestyle…they’re dealing with their hip-hop and emo kids now…it just goes to show you that you will reap what you sow…no matter how long it takes…peace people, spread the love without the disease.

To everyone:

This blogsite is a very nice find for me. Thanks to all of you who posted as the song titles jogged my memory and evoked very good memories.

I agree with jako’s comments in the sense that the “new wave” espoused by Radio XB in Pinas is very loose. Whatever the case, let us not forget that we have had very good acts to come out of Pinas. I still remember the compilation tapes by Twisted Red Cross which included bands like Identity Crisis(Sanctuary), George Imbecile and the Idiots, The Dead Ends etc. Mabuhay ang New Wave, and may we share our collective new wave memories for each other’s enjoyment!

Man, Kurt. GI and the Idiots, yeah…TRC tapes, my friend Rouel (he’s an Engineer in Ortigas) used to bring these down from way over in Recto…hissing, bad audio resolution, betamag tapes that had “xeroxed” sleeves…yeah, that stuff was dynamite! If the kids of today had the same pioneering spirit the DIY music scene would be fluorishing, what with today’s talent…of course we didn’t have MTV and Myx at the flick of a button. In my case, it was DZRJ and DZBM and 99.5RT and then WXB and Recto tapes and rented Betamax music video tapes that aided my search for that music elixir. In any case, XB did so much more for the introduction of an “alternative” music scene in Manila than any single entity at the time. And they did it with that Khumbmela commercial (lol)…you guys remember that? “Khumb…me-lah!”, haha.

Hey Kurt,

Where’d you use to get your records? Other than the TRC’s from To-Rect’s, i mean? I used to go to this little Oddyssey Records store in shoppesville, ghills. You had to go down the stairs across from the mcdonald’s there, I saved up enough of my baon for the week to get me a tape or a record at a time…tapes were at P27 and records at P35, if you wanted imported (or orig as we used to call them) records you had to go to MCS in makati. Man, those were heady days…i used to listen to Joe Jackson a lot, they played “steppin’ out” over and over like a loop on channel 9 in the mornings, haha. The engineers were probably sleeping…and Prefab Sprout, too. I also liked a lot of the brit acts – Style Council (the jam), sting, the blue nile, the smiths, talk talk, the chameleons, etc…more later…the trouble with memories is they start flooding in and you can’t stop them when they do…and it’s usually at 3:30 in the morningwith nobody to listen to you say “yeah, i remember that!”…did you guys like “sixteen Candles”? I thought Molly was pur-ty…pur-ttier in pink, though…:P

kurt
Posted on April 4, 2009

jako, I used to just borrow the tapes from a friend of mine (and copied them of course; remember those days of double-tape deck boomboxes, complete with 4-foot long antennas!). Sometimes, I would head down to Cartimar in Morayta to get a bunch of “import tapes”.

Yeah, all the acts you mentioned above I like too. Man, the list gets longer the more I reminisce. I used to forever listen to Aztec Camera, Cactus World News (man, “Worlds Apart” and the “Bridge”-instant senti!) and this relatively obscure group H20. Also, I can never find a better song than Midge Ure’s “Dear God”.

I have to say that I grew up more listening to 99.5RT than to XB or NU, but I loved to listen to them all, even RX93. I’m pretty bad with remembering group names and songs but can pretty much say “I’ve heard that before!”

Jako
Posted on April 4, 2009

Yeah, me too. RT, i mean…after all “medium by faith” (faith by medium) was an RT exclusive. You know what i’m talking about, right? XB’ers know this song by another name…but listening to XB sorta helped me want to find music that really had the edge…after all, RT could be too MIlli Vanilli at times…I remember listening to Big Country’s Steeltown album (record) and thinking what a total f%#@ it was that I wasn’t listening to campus music more…althoough the acts I liked waiting for in RT were mostly the edgier kind, the Cult, The Call, The Cure, Elvis Costello, U2…I think it was around 86 when I totally devoted myself to listening only to music that most people I knew had to ask me about (ano yan? sino kumanta?)…Husker Du, Ramones, the Replacements, Echo & the bunnymen, INXS, Talking Heads, Devo, B52’s, among others…

Andy’s 80’s music rocks..the other night they played two songs that I’ve been looking for in a very long time I have not heard “If You Want To” by Depeche Mode since high school and another song by the Bolshoi called “Please” I like classical alternative music because of the unique rhythms, ballads, sounds, styles and creativity. I see modern music as lost art and would like to see it return in full force once again.

“i am on Fire, and it’s the rainy season…”

Howard Devoto – Rainy Season

I have to admit i never really paid a lot of attention to this song when i used to hear it. Simon Cowell had a word for acts like this – forgettable. Of course, Simon is a joke (so is the show, sorry, I just had to say that) listening to it now brings to mind another act that he sounds like, The Call. You guys remember “Oklahoma” and “Even now”?

I’m an 80heist, even today 80% of the 4000 songs in my ipod are all retro 80’s songs. I don’t know! i just can’t move on. I was an xb listener at first, then it became the in thing, or the pacool syndrome, when you listen to xb, then naging masa na, punks started to arrive by the TRIBES! Then xb medyo shifted to punk and goth na. I have nothing against punk, in fact I love the Ramones, The Jam, Dead Kennedy’s. Punk originated in underground new york rock scene in the late 60’s. When it arrived in the shores of england the londoners hugged it like they we’re the ones who invented it. Nung 80’s kase basta brits ang banda in, kaya everytime brits ang banda, we associate them kagad as new wave, like Prefab Sprout, their music is pop and jazz also style council, pero they we’re the front runners of the new wave scene here. Iba Punk nung panahon natin yung original na punk ha! Halos lahat may sinabi, hindi tulad nung masa na xb, tsaka ngaun na nakapulot lang ng anarchy shirt and stud collar, punk na siya. Kaya medyo na turn off ako sa xb nag masa na kase, so i went to 105.1 with Kool Karla, dun buhay pa rin ang tunay na new wave. Kaya nga nagkaroon ng rivalry ang xb and 105, remember khumbella sa xb, High Adventure naman sa 105. Hahahahigh Adventure!
Tama nga si jako new wave it’s not just the music, It’s the craze that shaped our world at that time, from fashion to music, to hang outs! Imagine the 80’s without michael jackson, as well as Imagine the 80’s without Robert Smith! Boring I guess. Mabuhay ang tunay na mga 80heist! Thanks Raredog.

You know, the same thing happened to LA 105.90 in the mid 90’s…naging jologs (no offense meant, I live in the poorer section of Mandaluyong…I am jologs personified) kumbaga. Billy hits it right on the head when he says everybody wanted to get on the “cool”, “punk” bandwagon…imagine kids of the time wearing studded neckbands and sporting dyed mohawks and then humming to “changes in my life” (oh yeah, you guys know what i’m talking about)on the way to school! What a sacrilege…I wasn’t very big on Punk, but I did like it as a genre because of it’s bravado and nose-thumbing attitude towards the elite. In fact, Talking Heads and Patti Smith and Husker Du continue to be some of my favorite acts. I just simply gravitated towards the “adult alternative” leanings of U2 and REM and all the other acts that defined the era.
Pero tama talaga si Billy in saying a lot of people associated Brit with Punk, pero mali kase yun eh, at the time. brit pop of the time were Style Council, Duran Duran and Paul Young…pero nagkaganun eh…go figure…more next time…Kurt, yer thoughts?

kurt
Posted on April 10, 2009

Jako and Billy, you are both correct in your observations. May panahon nung late 80s to early nineties (just at the time that grunge hit the music scene) na all I would listen to (aside from pinoy bands like the Dawn, Identity Crisis and the TRC acts) were British acts for 2 silly reasons: first, “almost all new wave acts that are good are from the United Kingdom” and second, “it was cool and more acceptable to be into new wave as opposed to being into punk or classic rock” –> “cool ako pre: i’m listening to the Housemartins eh ikaw kay Bon Jovi, baduy”. Of course, the above reasons are misconceptions. To each his own type of music. As for me, I’m mostly stuck in the 80s and I like it.

Hi wavers, just an input. During those times, DZBM power 105 and DWNU 107 were really rivals after XB disappeared on air. For 105, i remembered one of their sponsors, Voyager’s Jean shop, as always mentioned by Sheldy, only female DJ on the said station. I agree with Jako, Khumbmela was a hip commercial that time, with background music “I Melt with You”, hehe. Anyway, thanks for the info, Howard Devoto. Please correct me if i’m wrong, Everywhere I Go was popularized by The Call too.

Jako
Posted on April 11, 2009

Well there’s the rub right there…we thought “baduy!” and Bon Jovi went together but in truth the glam and hair genres shaped the 80’s a lot more than we would care to admit…it just feels good to hate them guys, though…lol

Every–where…I…every–where…I…gooooh…woh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh…The Call

@emer Yah i remember it right, Mga 86 or 87 siguro yun, i bought an apple picker shirt sa farmers, It’s a black shirt printed with the Stray Cats Logo, remember the Rock A Billy cat logo of the stray cats with his tongue stucked out. That’s whats good about the 80’s everything is so simple, Pag toma ka la ka pera, yaya ka ng tropa na may auto, tapos punta kayo greenhills carpark, bili lang kayo beer sa Jayzen sa shopsville, (maliit na store sa tapat ng mcdo). Kung medyo may derbs ka halfway or tia maria, it’s so nice to bring back old memories, recently my daughter and i went to greenhills, we parked near mcdo, i told her we used to drink there, just park the car and a case of beer at soundtrip sa auto, with the old reliable pioneer kp-5 stereo with proline equa. remember the pioneer kp-5? the silver metal stereo with the big circle dial tuner, yung mga stereo sa mga montalban jeepneys nung 80’s na mga patok nun. I told my daughter, life was so simple at that time, wala gadgets, wala internet, puro tambay lang ok na. kaya siguro mas mabisyo mga bata nung 80’s kase wala mashado alam kungdi lumarga. siguro the best parties nung 80’s talaga, corinthian clubhouse with social d on the mix, o kaya concert ng betrayed, dean’s december or charlotte rousse sa blue ridge. The best talaga 80’s “Round and round, up and down through the streets of your town, everday iii make my way, through the streets of your town.

In keeping with the semana santa feel and the party theme, here is a memory. Spirits Disco in Baguio – did you guys ever go up to Baguio in the 80’s? I went there a coupla times for Christmas and (un)holy week…ther was lots to do but the kids all wanted to go to Spirits…because sampid lang ako, I had to go too. What a joke…talk about no edge, dull as wood music (…life is six to eight…tarzan boy, ugh…ewww), but I had to endure it…poor me. Anyway, green hills…waht can I say? Pure teenage bliss…not a lot of angst, though. Not enough, I should say…but it was cool, in it’s own way…that’s right, crank up the kp-5 and break out the booze…”the bar”, cali and the old reliable san migs (not of that light s$#@ we have now) from Jayzen…and yes you gotta have Marlboro Reds military issue too, only the best PX can be had in Jayzen pare…you guys mention Tia Maria’s and halfway…sure, sure…we all went there, di ba…but do any of you remember Ha kee over in thte parking lot of the Uni Mart side? phew, those guys made a mean sisig, I can tell you that! And the Corinthian club, rich kids going ga ga over poor kids’ music…there you go,I said it…so sue me! In any case, it’s safe to say that all of you remember where the old Goodah used to be, right? Or are we just playing on other people’s memories here? Haha…not trying to be mean or anything, but you know…if you had rally been there, you wouldn’t forget, na-ah, you won’t.

“Let’s go, Let’s go that way, Let’s go, Let’s go to the zoo
Let’s go, Let’s go, Let’s go, Let’s go right now!”

It’s “Run For Your Love” By The RP Band, it’s a local band, Louie Ocampo is the keyboardist,Goff Macaraeg is the lead vocalist, He sounds more like Ric Segreto. I think they had another hit song the title is “When Angels March Across the Sky”.

I’m not sure who made the remake of “stay” by the blue nile. But i remember in the early 90’s 10,000 Maniacs made a cover version, after natalie merchant left the band, i think mary ramsey was the lead vocalist when they made the version.

Mga chong, surprised nobody mentioned The Sound. Golden Soldiers and Total Recall paborito ko doon. Also, anyone remembers the Subterranean Romance compilation? Ano bang meron doon? Hmm..bands like Integrated Circuit, Eizen Kruiz, The Sake, and Ethnic Faces din yata. Although wala doon yung paborito ko ng Ethnic Faces, yung Within Tribes. Anyone has it? I’m also looking for the compilation na gawa ng NU noon, Yung may Happy Shrimps. But ang favorite ko doon ay Take My Hand by Frontier.

Lupit pala nung nakaalala ng Jayzen. It was literally a hole-in-the-wall store, but served its purpose very well. At yung nakaalala ng Fade by Medium ng RT. I remember everyone being totally clueless as to the real title of that Ricky Gervais-sung tune.

Lean On Me (ah-li-ayo) – Red Box

Are we happy? Are we scared?
Are we shouting? Never heard!
Are we running? Running brave !
Are we fighting? Making waves?

The first man he gets up and he says:
well can I have a say?
Singing man on fire pray for rain
do a mad man
do we say?
Ten men may get up and they say:
well can we have a say?
Have we lost the spoken word?

From the very very young to the very very old

everybody now say aye.
From the center of the earth
to the corners of the globe

Everyone of you say aye.
Nobody better let me down
gotta run from the other side

Are we happy? Are we scared?
Are we shouting? Never heard!
The first man he gets up and he says:
well can I have a say?
Cut of drama powel’ of sound.
Are we progress?
Don’t lose ground!
Ten men may get up and they say:
well can we have a say?
Are we fighting? Making waves?

From the very very young to the very very old

Everybody now say aye.
From the center of the earth
to the corners of the globe

Everyone of you say aye.
Nobody better let me down
we will see on the other side.
Lean on me -

From the very very young to the very very old

Everybody now say aye.
From the center of the earth
to the corners of the globe

Everyone of you say aye.
Nobody better let me down
we will see on the other side.
Lean on me -

From the very very young to the very very old
From the very very young to the very very old

forgive me, my question is’nt about new wave, it’s about an 80’s disco song. I think the title of the song is “Faces” who sang it? I remember in the late 80’s Faces Disco made it their theme song, on their ads, it’s the counterpart of their main theme song, the disco version of “Sing,Sing,Sing” by the Andrew Sisters. I think their fil-nepalese lady dj (i forgot her name)had a cover version. Which they used on their tv ads, showing her dancing and singing with their guests. But i’m pretty sure the title of the song is “Faces”

What should be clear is that illegally downloading and distributing music comes with many risks and is not an anonymous activity…

billymidol
Posted on June 22, 2009

@ klint

I don’t see the point eh, if file sharing, or downloading songs or movies from the internet is illegal, why can’t they sanction p2p software makers, like limewire, bearshare or other torrent sites. Because there’s no law about making p2p softwares, which we obviously know, it’s a file sharing sofware, the purpose of limewire is to let you share your files to others in return they share their files too. (kaya kawawa yung nagdownload) cause there is a law about downloading files from the internet, pero limewire gets away with it. I don’t see the logic. We know it’s illegal to buy pirated dvd’s like the one’s in quiapo or any other malls. But it’s not illegal to buy blank cd’s, cd writers, dvd writers, cellphones w/ bluetooth. It’s like its illegal to buy a gun, but its not illegal to buy bullets. I don’t know, it’s just my opinion. :D

Yeh, you’re right… Well, I think the law is important to obey. Anyone can confirm now that they have not only downloaded music from the net that they have not paid for, but have, in fact, copied some of their own CDs and placed them online for others to download for free. Have they become thieves? Have they allowed others to become thieves too? hehehe.. Thieves like us..
Ayan, the song from New Order. I like that song.

Posted on July 2, 2009

@ benjot

I don’t quite remember the dawn z. ad eh, they had a couple of ads naman at that time, what i remember was the fil-nepalese dj, i think it’s (dolly duran) showing her on the mix and dancing. the background music they used on the dolly duran ad was their other theme song, not the andrew sister’s sing, sing, sing, which is their main theme song. the song i’m talking about is “faces” it’s a slow disco song, with a sweet voice on the vocals, dolly duran had a cover version, for the faces promotion. if you remember the song “sorry, doesn’t make it anymore” by the rah band, medyo ganun yung dating niya.

billymidol
Posted on July 2, 2009

@ klint

no problemo!

why what’s wrong with the volume? well sometimes it happens, mp3’s have different volume limits, almost all of my collection came from my old audio cd’s, i just convert it to mp3 file. i think older audio cd’s, especially those released during the late 80’s lacks volume, i have a cd album “the hurting” by tff and nick heyward & the haircut 100 w/c i bought during the 80’s, it lacks the kick, unlike the metallica, and nirvana cd’s i bought during the 90’s, my solution i just use the sound check option on my ipod, it sets all the songs to a uniform volume limit.

Posted on July 3, 2009

@Billymidol,
You know, I’m using mp3Gain software to level the volume of my mp3 files. I prefer using this and if you are interested… http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php
that’s the link. Importantly, mp3gain will not affect the original quality of the sound tracks. I’m using my iPod in my car’s head unit, I’m not experiencing anymore unpleasant volume settings in my audio.
Be sure to turn-off the soundcheck in your iTunes and in your iPod. Do this before importing your files into your iTunes. Be sure to update your files in your iPod after using mp3Gain in your tracks.
Use either mp3Gain or Soundcheck, don’t try using them both at the same time. You will not get the benefit of changes you made with mp3Gain.
Highly recommended! Free nman e…

Thanks nga pala uli sa files na pinadala nyo ni r0m3r.

I was born year 1972..

@ Michelle,

Run and While Angels March – RP Band, very rare songs to find na. You should try Phoenix records sa kamuning, maybe they have a preserved lp album pa, i think 30 pesos per song ata rate nila or 50, i’m not sure na eh. The name of their album is “Street Legal” released 1985, it includes 8 cuts.

“Street Legal” by the RP Band

1.Keep Our Love Alive
2.Run
3.Love is all i Need
4.While Angels March
5.Got Carried Away
6.So Glad
7.Set Me Free
8.Street Legal

@raredog,

hehehe, they say that the sole of the shoes was made from airplane tires. that’s why it was that tough and durable. the one i had was red carpet on top and two inches sole. tapos naka-501 levi’s jeans ka at plain white shirt. ayos!

Bago lang ako dito mga bossing but have the same passion for new wave. Can anyone please tell me; 1. the title of a song with the phrase “its a message of love..(or something similar) in the chorus followed by high octave piano keystrokes, & 2. the artist who sang Stay (as in “people stay just a little bit longer) that has a fast tempo (pwedeng sayawin).
Thanks, & don’t forget The Cocteau Twins

the artist who sang stay is bluenile and gracepool.

Sorry bossing pero iba yata yun lyrics. It was a Jackson Browne original but interesado ako sa kumanta ng Modern/Dance mix nito (classified din as New Wave). And how about yung 1st please? TY

power station
Posted on September 2, 2009

Hi cptgarfield, actually i love the song same as the one you have mentioned. it’s entitled Message of Love sung by Steve Allen, Stay naman was popularized by Oingo Boingo, if i’m not mistaken. These were my favorites during mid-80s.

lordluke
Posted on September 3, 2009

hey power station that is a different “stay” than what cptgarfieldmc is looking for.

r0m3r

cptgarfieldmc
Posted on September 7, 2009

@ powerstation

Naku, maraming salamat po sa input with “message of love” – it really brightened my dull day! I have to agree with lordluke though kasi yung Stay na hinahanap ko has a fast beat, a remake of the original (so New Wave classification might not apply) & goes like this:

“(male)People stay just a little bit longer, We want to play just a little bit longer; Now the promoter don’t mind, And the union don’t mind, If we take a little time, And we leave it all behind & sing, One more song;(female) Oh won’t you stay just a little bit longer; Please, please, please, say you will, say you will”

Our uniqueness really makes us Pinoys a class of our own pagdating sa taste of music/tunes. Sana magpatuloy itong exchange of info for the benefit of all New Wavers & I’ll be posting some more “name that song/artist”. Thanks to all!

Hi to all!

I’m almost done with my favorite new wave mp3 compilation. I just lack these 5 titles before I burn them all 140+ titles in a cd-rom. To those who has these titles, I would appreciate receiving MP3 copies to noelizm@yahoo.com

Contributors of any of the titles below may request a free copy of the mp3 compilation, but they have to pick-up from Peninsula Manila during office hours, hehe. Just leave your name & mobile number on your email as well.

1. Confession – by Colourfield
2. The Colourfield – by Colourfield
3. Graceland – by The Bible
4. I’ll Always Be Grateful – by The Bible
5. Here, There, & Everywhere (rock instrumental guitar version I usually hear before at NU107) – don’t know the artist

Thanks.

Hey New Wave enthusiasists,

Do any of you know how to track any New Wave Songs that never made it to CD? I’m going nuts because I cannot find a certain song. The main problem is I have no recollection of any of the verses but I have a general idea of the chorus lines. If any of you are interested in helping me out I would be happy to sing it accapella and perhaps play the bridge part of the chorus on a keyboard in a private conference room like in yahoo chat or in pal-talk…Just name a time and day so we can coordinate schedules.

Thanks

gary

Klint
Posted on December 19, 2009

Happy X’mas New Wavers!
Hello Gary!..
I recommend you put in writing the chorus lines that you know so one and all can tell or enlighten what title is that song…
I guess it would help..
Thanks!

gary
Posted on December 21, 2009

Thanks Klint..

The main problem is that since it has been at least 10 years since I’ve heard the song my memory may not be accurate…well here it goes…Can’t you see (something, something, something in between)….all I need. I’ve tried other groups and they keep refering me back to the song, “Can’t you see” by Vicious Pink, but I assure you it’s not that one. Andy’s80music.com does play a lot of obscure and rare tracks but I don’t have a lot of time to listen to internet radio. I’ve googled the lyrics and trust researching takes a very long time…Hence the reason to sing it for any of you interested new wave enthusiasists..:)Merry Christmas to you and everyone else on here..Gary

P.S When or if the song is found my intentions are to sing it karaoke style.

jeremyy
Posted on December 21, 2009

gary – I’m gonna try. Could it be Joe Jackson’s You Cant Get What You Want? there’s a line there that goes “..Cant you see..it could be you and me..but if there’s any doubt, then I think I’ll leave it out..” Then one of the verses goes something like “..Sometimes you cant see that all you need is one thing..” Not sure if that’s what you’re looking for.

If its the song you’re looking for, let me know and I’ll send you a copy.

gary
Posted on December 22, 2009

Hey Jeremy,

Man, those lyrics are so similar but when I listened to it, it wasn’t the song but I like it nevertheless. Thanks for your efforts!!
