I was in Pangasinan recently and I was very happy to see that the river near our house, called the Kabuyaan, was still alive and flowing. A 3 day vacation wasn’t enough for me after swimming in this river. With its fast waters, rocky bottom, and slightly steep banks, having a dip in this river could become a workout that could rival the effects of the best diet pill.
This river was actually on the brink of getting ruined, because the local government of our town took sand and rocks from this area. Unfortunately, the frequent quarrying led to this river almost drying out. In fact it was so dry during the last time I came, that even farmers can let their carabaos take a bath here.
I was very pleased to find that this river was brought back to its former glory. Well, I guess it got better. I just hope that this river would be this lively when I come back during the summer.
