I think car drivers need to be much much more vigilant. They should also be educated about looking out for motorcycles approaching. How many car drivers think about motorbikes before they open their doors. I bet very few. It should be in the driving test, look out for bikes before opening your doors. @amane misa - i definitely agree with you. Mejo matamlay ang batas regarding sa mga signal lights eh kung tutuusin isa ito sa regular na dahilan kung bakit nagkaka-aksidente sa daan. Sana mabigyan nila ito ng pansin at hulihin ang mga busted na signal lights or hindi payagan ma-rehistro kung sira ito. geri's last blog post..LocoRoco Game

…. andami po nyan,defective accesories…pero not in the motorcycles but sa mga mismong tricycle.kakaloka kasi ang pangsignal ng mga drivers na liliko sila in a certain area is just their “PAA”or”KAMAY” na as if naman makikita mo na inaangat nila ang paa at kamay nila to signify na liliko sila.. and this alsogoes the same sa mga jeepney drivers..walang signalsignal, hihintona lang basta basta..,magbababa at magsasakay ng passengers sa gitna ng kalsadaayaw magpauna na lang.. hinaharangan ng sadya ang road. There should be more rules and regulations on motorcycle riders; and these should be implemented strictly. Let us face it; riding a motorcycle is not safe in cities wherein there are more cars, trucks, buses, etc. And what is more dangerous is when the driver of the motorcycle is drunk, not wearing any protective gears and so on. It is not just about his life we are talking about, but also the lives of the people nearby. Do not be selfish. Think about other people’s safety too. Yes, I know that LTO seems to be bias or sometimes even corrupt; and more often, the regulations are not implemented well. But the thing is, accidents happen a lot because of carelessness of the motorcycle driver and while LTO ignores all of these. Forget about the fine, or bribe or whatever it is, just implement regulations well! And for those drivers, be responsible! If you can’t live your life following rules, “mag-commute na lang kayo!”
I am saying all of these because I am a victim of a careless motorcycle driver. I am driving a car yet he didn’t get scared and hit my side while I was parking. I WAS PARKING. And many people have witnessed that. The driver was drunk, wearing no protective gears (just his plain clothes and slippers), the motorcycle’s registration was expired, no license. And now his mother wants me to pay for his hospital bills?? C’mon. He slammed my 5 month old Honda Civic and yet I need to pay for his carelessness? We’ll be taking it on court. The guy suffered from minor injuries, (lucky him).

UPDATES! As per meeting of bikers (MRO,MCPF, others) with LTO officers (Usec. Suansing and Ms. Jacobo)yesterday at the LTO Office – eto ang napagkasunduan.

1.The suspension and non-endorsement of the second plate.

2.Allowing the Habal Habal to operate in provinces given that they do not cross national highways between towns.

3.Allowing more than one passenger as long as the volume of vehicles in that town is at an acceptable volume. Traversing between towns will not be allowed for more than 1 passengers.

4.The suspension of the regulation of the standard in helmets. Although made mandatory, as long as the helmet being used is specific for motorcycles.

5.The suspension on the regulation on apparel until they come up with a provision for the required shoes for riding.

6.The suspension on the ruling on carrying cargo. The current suggestion is to allow people to carry cargo based on weight, volume, stability and the location of the cargo.

7.The suspension of the regulation on modifications pending further review and study with the LTO and the Manufacturers.
