In most countries election voting is already being done using computers. Filipinos will be having its first use of automated voting this coming May 10, 2010 and most of us still fear that there may be more act of cheating using the said technology not to mention that a number of Filipinos still find the method complicated, and can not follow instruction as simple as click here.
In the Philippines out of the seven candidates of the bidding process done last June of 2009 it is Smartmatic-TIM who has won the bidding to complete the automated election project.
The main advantage of this system is saving a huge amount of time, if you’d imagine the time spent voting in each precinct using papers/ballots which takes a number of months to gain results, compared to this system where people would just be shading circles then inserting in on a PCOS machines. So still the biggest doubt and disadvantage is, the easier it is for us to vote, it is also easier for someone who has control of the servers of this system to hack it and manipulate the results of this system.
