Cosplaying is fast becoming a popular hobby or pastime to many Pinoy youths nowadays, ever since the manga and anime invasion. Lots of cosplay events are sprouting all over the country. Imitating or impersonating their favorite character by wearing costume, wigs, make-ups, accessories and even weapons.
Everyone brings out their creativity through their craftsmanship. Specially the accessory and weapon section. When you take a closer look on their giant swords, guns, amulet, belt and other special effects. You’ll be amazed that its just made from ordinary materials you can found in your house, like cartons, rubber matting, tin cans, and even newspaper.
I think more girls are lured into cosplaying than boys. One of their favorite character is Asuka Langley Soryu, the 14-year old fictional character from the Neon Genesis Evangelion. Like my above photo taken during the Ateneo D15GUISE Cosplay event last month.
I hope cosplaying gets additional boost and support from the government. As these would give the young (and not-so-young) an alternative way to become more productive and at the same time shun from bad habits.
