Thank God I survived another ordeal in my life, and that is having a rabies! I’ve been seeing this animal bite poster for over a month now.
I’ve knew about Verorab, Berirab and Favirab the time I’ve gotten to this private hospital to find medication. Good thing its rab not rob because the prices of these vaccines will surely feel you’ve been robbed haha! I almost got a lock jaw when the nurse said that I need to have 6 shots of it that day. It’s not the pricking that I’m worried about but the price. 6 shots = 6 vials = 1 vial is P8,000 x 6 = P48,000!!! Can you imagine that!
Since my health card is kinda cheap, it can only afford to get 2 shots of anti-tetanus vaccine (Toxoid P107.60 and Tetagam P1288.60) + 1 shot of Verorab P2,035 that day.
Then some friends told me about the Animal Bite Center, a project of the provincial government of Rizal and is offering free vaccine to fellow Rizalenos.
Looks like I’ve been at The tanning store because four times in the span of 1 month I have to travel 20 kilometers (one way) at around 2 o’clock in the afternoon for my schedule vaccine shots by the kind and pretty nurse Girlie of Morong General Hospital. It ends yesterday after having 8 shots of vaccines on the left and right of my shoulder (4 each side).
I can now eat eggs, chicken and fish again!!! And most of all, I can drink again haha!
The lesson here is, to dog owners, be sure to have your dog vaccinated and to everyone, don’t go near a dog you don’t know. He/she can bite you inconspicuously.
