The Famous Tangke of Lagro

Pasahero: Bayad po.
Driver: Saan po ito?
Pasahero: Isa lang, sa tangke lang po.

I’m the passenger at eto ang usual line ko inside a dyipni na byaheng Lagro. Ganun din ang aking families, friends, and neighbors ko since time immermorial.

It was 1979 when we set foot at Lagro Subdivision at nakatayo na yung tangke na yan at ito ang nagsu-supply ng tubig sa napakaraming kabahayan. Dito nanggagaling ang aming inumin at pampaligo.

But aside from being just a plain water tank,  this enormous thing  served as a landmark for would be visitors or first timers in our place. All you got to do is mentioned it to the jeepney driver or draw it on a map to guide your bisita’s na me madadaanan silang tangke at dun na sila bababa or malapit na silang bumaba.

The sad news is this famous tangke has to go. Maybe because its not serviceable anymore, maybe its rusty and dilapidated that somehow its a safety concern for the families living below that they may suddenly use their social security disability . Or for whatever reasons I really don’t know.

What I know is that I would be missing it from now on.

By the way, the photo above was taken last June 5, 2011, and last June 12 the basin was totally cut into pieces and was brought down.

Congatulations to my young successor Vennedict Brian Barcelona or Dek2! Who grabbed the 2nd place for the Novice Solo-Scooter category during the NRA Motokhana that was held at SM Fairview grounds last Sunday, May 29, 2011.

We were both excited as everything happened so fast! We only knew about the event a day before it starts. Good thing we join last year’s Motokhana. So we basically pick-up from our last year’s experience. Believe it or not, but the only preparation we did was to washed Miah (our scooter) and fill ‘er up. Then off we go to SM Fairview to register.

There are a significant number of riders participants despite the rainy weather condition that day. I chose not to join this time as my body still aches from my recent company outing. I just support Dek2 in the pit while coaching and giving him morale support. I also act as his official photographer and video man during the event.

With 11 agile riders to compete in his category, plus the wet tracks that makes it more exciting and challenging! I just advise him to relax and focus on speed and balance. And concentrate to be at least included on the Top 6 positions.

And with just few milliseconds time difference from the 1st placer…

1:34.533 (1st Place time)
1:35.035 (Dek2 Time)
1:35.425 (3rd Place Time)

I could say that Dek2 did a good ride that day!!! He made it to the Top 3 position!!! Thank God!!!

I guess we’re definitely going to the next Motokhana event this year.

The battle for the controversial House Bill 4424 or Reproductive Health Bill or simply RH Bill has been the hottest issue the Philippine is facing right now. Congress is the venue for the heated discussion on whether this bill will pass or not, exchange of opinions from pros and cons are getting hot as if the ones debating were Texas Business Lawyers ready to draw guns from their belt.

As for me, both ideas got their point and wisdom, and that both have followers ready to defend their principle, for what they think is right or best for their lives. Let’s just hope everything ends well and let’s all help and support our country in our own little way.
