Our Malolos aDRONEture

Irrigation in Paombong, Bulacan, just a few yards from where we sleep over.

Imagine 7 hours behind the wheel, coming from SM Fairview at around 1pm then reached Paombong, Bulacan at 8pm watdapakkk!

The ordinary 2 hour travel time has been elongated with an additional 5 hours! This grueling driving experience happened recently, it’s the day before New Year’s eve. My drone buddy Eric invited me to go with him at the Malolos Convention Hall for some flying session with some of the local droners there! Uy “droners” daw hehe, pauso ko yan ha! 😀

Well since I’m a newbie with this hobby, nag Ok naman ako na sumama.

Going through the route of Marilao, Bulacan via Bagong Silang Caloocan, dito na nagsimula yung kalbaryo namin sa traffic kase daw me nasiraang truck. And dahil sa kakahanap namin ng malulusutan, nakarating kami sa me Sta. Maria going to Bocaue, never anticipating na duon na kami maiipit dahil sa superduper dami ng may mga dalang sasakyan na mamimili ng fireworks that day!

Ok, not much to tell during traffic, kundi inabot kami ng overheat at since andun na rin eh di do what the romans do na rin, nag buy na rin ako ng paputok sa madaling sabi hehe!

To cut it short, nakarating din kami sa house ng isang droner, si Jerome, sa me Paombong, after din magkaligaw-ligaw for about an hour din. I decided since hindi na kami umabot sa supposed flying session that day, tapos pagod na rin ako mag drive, I told Eric na bukas na kami umuwi para makapahinga at i-sked na lang sa morning yung flying session kung pede pa (not knowing me hidden agenda rin pala sya dahil ipapa-setup nya rin pala yung gimbal at FPV ng Phantom 2 nya! Acheche!) Para makabawi, nagpa-inom na lang sya that night while our host Jerome is busy setting up Eric’s drone.

Sarap ng tulog namin that night, fresh air ba naman kase buong kapaligiran ay bukirin. We woke up early, cguro mga 6 lang yun at nagkakape na kami. Nagpalipad pa kami that morning, Jerome demo his FPV setup with his Phantom 2 tapos past 7am na rin when we decided to leave the place and go to Malolos Convention Center to meet other droners. Good thing na lahat sila puwede rin that day so parang na-move lang yung sked hehe.

Have  a quickie breakfast at McDo just a few blocks from the venue, then mag 9am na din yata nung makumpleto na kaming mga piloto. We met Lambert and his Phantom 3 DJI, Angelo and his Syma X5C and lastly Chit with his two drones, a Cheerson Cx20 and a Syma X8C.

We easily get acquainted with each other after a short chit-chat and started flying our drones. Sabay-sabay pa nga umere mga drones eh kakatuwa, yun nga lang the wind is kinda strong that moment kaya hirap lumipad ng Tarantula X6 ko at palaging natatangay hehe.

Spend almost 2 hours there before we decided to call it a day and bid our fellow pilots goodbye and headed home, aba anong oras na at mamamalengke pa yata ako ng pang media noche namin hehe!

Raredrone first flight with a GoPro

Everybody in their life wishes they can fly like a bird or like Superman but of course its just a dream and nothing of those two can happen, although nowadays anybody can mimick them by flying drones and attaching a camera to simulate like you were the one flying when you watch your video afterwards. There is also an option to view it on real time by attaching an FPV system (First Person View). You can view it on your monitor as it fly. Cool isn’t it!

I recently acquired a Tarantula X6, a mid-size toy quadcopter, (named it Raredrone) as an early Christmas gift for myself, unfortunately it has no FPV but still wattah great time it gives me, my kids and friends, not to mention I found new acquaintances from this hobby! I found out lotsa bikers like me love this hobby too haha!

Watch my other drone related videos 😀

I’m still a newbie and I know my drone will endure a lot more crashes before my hands will feel relaxed with the controller and fly the quad flawlesslly . But as of now I will savor the joy that it brings! Goodluck to Raredrone and my GoPro sana tumagal sila sa akin haha!
