Damn! I was surprised when I heard that a Quezon City representative by the person of Winston Castelo has filed a bill called the “Anti-Planking Act of 2011.”

At first I really thought it was a f$#&!#@ joke! But then I saw him on the evening news explaining his side on why he thought of this <del>crap</del> and why the need to pass the law for the betterment of the country. haha!

For me planking is just a kind of pose infront of the camera, when the usual smiling, peace sign and jump shot is just to boring or normal for you. Peace!

Obviously, everyone would agree its the weather!!! And it’s about time that anyone around the world that seeks or search for “Marikina Scandal” online would get negative results on search pages.

Let’s all help in uplifting the image of the beautiful city of Marikina and Filipinas all over the world by means of uploading/posting positive digital media on the internet.

Mabalik tayo sa weather or El Nino. Ang super-mega-ultra-hyper-init na panahon natin ngayon. Imagine, reaching 36.8ºC this week.

Its rainy days again and diseases are all over . I know Swine Flu or A(H1N1) is the more popular disease today. But let’s not forget a far-more deadlier disease – the Dengue, a disease spread by mosquitoes. To be specific, the “Aedes Aegypti“, its a day-biting mosquito characterized by white marking on the legs and body.

Below is an easy to follow tips in Dengue Prevention that was forwarded to me by a colleague of mine thru email. Hoping that by placing it on my site, I can save someone or some people from having dengue.

Easy to follow tips in Dengue Prevention
This information may save thousands of lives from the cruel fate of dengue.
FIGHTING DENGUE MUST START AT EVERY HOME.
Mosquito trap (Dengue prevention)

Its just a mix of water, brown sugar and yeast.

1. Cut a plastic bottle in half, keep both parts. Can be softdrink bottle.

2. Take the lower portion of the bottle. Dissolve the brown sugar in hot water. Let it cool down to ~70 degF.

3. Add the yeast. Carbon dioxide will form (This will attract the mosquitos)

4. Cover the bottle with a dark wrap and insert in the top portion upside down like a funnel. Place it in a corner in your house.

5. In 2 weeks you will be surprised by the number of mosquito’s killed.

Attention to all Good Samaritans out there. Please lend a hand to AJ.

This is a re-post from: hazelsheryllchua.blogspot.com

It’s been a week since I last blogged an update regarding my niece, AJ.

Currently, she is still in the hospital and is supposed to finish taking antibiotics on Wednesday, April 1, however just two days ago she started experiencing pains on her lower abdomen that no amount of cold/hot compress can relieve. The doctors did a urinalysis to rule out the possibility of a urinary tract infection since she just had her menstrual period. I do not know what happened to the urinalysis, but today, at 11AM, she was wheeled in to the lab for an ultrasound. As of this writing, we are still waiting for the result of the test and praying that it isn’t something bad.

I will not deny the fact that we need financial assistance. As of yesterday, our hospital bill already mounted up to PhP200,646.00/US$4,270.00, we are now under what they call “Rx Watch” meaning we now have to buy medications outside the hospital because we were not able to give them the required PhP60,000 deposit two nights ago (we have already used up our previous deposits). Being under Rx Watch has its advantages, actually, because the medicines are a lot cheaper outside, however, it is also stressful because these medicines are not that easy to find and with this new set up, we should make sure we always have some cash ready for purchasing, and sadly that is not always the case. The other night, we needed PhP16,000.00 to buy meds that AJ needed by 3am that same night and we did not have cash on hand, so you can just probably imagine how stressful that night was. This morning, we needed to get PhP5,000.00 to my brother before 11am because AJ’s antibiotics needed replenishing, we were informed at 10:15am — 45 minutes! It sent everyone on a frenzy!

We are still in the process of being inteviewed by local social workers and some charities like PCSO, PagCor and the Cancer Warrior’s Foundation and hopefully, AJ gets approved for support. Until then, we just have to try our best to raise funds to cover the expenses.

We also are requesting for blood donations (which incidentally makes up 35% of the bill), please just proceed to Fe del Mundo Children’s Medical Center along Banawe Ave., Quezon City and tell them you are donating blood for AJ, the leukemia patient at room Waling Waling. And while you are already there, why don’t you do drop by her room to cheer her up as well? Please feel free to email me at hazelrchua@gmail.com or call 0908-685-4240 if you would like to extend assistance in any way so I can make arrangements for you ahead of time. Thank you.

Before ALL is gone…..there is hope to restore previous grandeur… Everyone who has gone to SAGADA, PULAG, IFUGAO,and other places in the Cordillera — will notice that BAGUIO has LOST its CHARM–it is crowded, it is polluted, water is scarce, it is full of squatters even in the watershed areas and it is HOT.

The pine trees are so choked with smog. Session Road is no longer leisurely cool walk — it’s like being in Cubao (okey – exaggeration but i really hate the billboards up there — it’s so cluttered, an eyesore).Hopefully Sagada won’t follow suit—but it’s getting to be commercial up there too. Maybe by signing up, you will help RECLAIM BAGUIO’s lost beauty and stop the degradation of all the other places we all love in the Northern region–so, how about signing this petition? PETITION for BAGUIO CITY:

We believe that the City of Baguio is culturally, environmentally and aesthetically unique and different from other cities in the Philippines. We believe that Baguio is the nerve center of our rich and diverse cultures: the Filipino culture in general, the highland Cordilleran culture, the lowland Ilocano culture, and the heritage culture brought about by the Americans during the early 20th Century. We believe that in the past two decades, the City of Baguio has experienced a substantial degradation of its unique culture, environment and art. We believe that the approval of certain politicians with no respect for the aesthetics and the environment of Baguio to put up concrete structures such as malls, overpasses and flyovers only worsens Baguio City’s lamentable decay as a “City of Pines.”We believe that this overdevelopment resulting in pollution has to stop.We believe that due to its unique history and blend of cultures, Baguio can be to the Philippines as Barcelona is to Spain, Chiang Mai is to Thailand, and San Francisco is to the United States: a main center of arts, culture, philosophy, education, tourism, sustainable development and environmental awareness. We believe, therefore, that the City of Baguio deserves to be declared a “Special Heritage Zone,”so that the degradation brought about by overdevelopment can be minimized and gradually controlled. We believe that Baguio City’s heritage as a center of culture and environmental awareness is a valuable asset not just to the Philippines, but also to the world. We now respectfully call on the residents of Baguio and the Filipino people to sign this humble petition, and for the local and national government concerned to implement and declare Special Heritage status on this unique mountain City as soon as possible, preferably before the Baguio Centennial in 2009, so no further destruction on its limited cultural, environmental and aesthetic resources may continue. Please add your name to the list and send this message to as many people as possible. Please do not just click “forward”– Instead highlight the text and copy onto a new message box. Thank you! to prevent spam mails ALSO SEND this as BCC to your friends

This one cool bike was reportedly stolen last night inside the biker residence in Marikina City. If you ever seen this Sporty Mio – Fiat Replica bearing plate number 6996-NR. Kindly call/text its rightful owner – Mr. JEREMY C. CRUZ a.k.a. saybertaz of MCP Forum at 09228422223 or just inform it to any police station. Let’s help this biker get his ride again. And help curb criminal deeds in our area.

Incidents like this are quite rampant. Take extra security measures on our bikes regularly. I suggest getting a comprehensive insurance is one alternative. I do hope you find your bike real soon bro.
