Regedit disabled

Posted by raredog in Techie Stuff, ... | 01.22.2008 - 6:24 pm

My pc acquired the dreaded “lop” virus because of the usual usage of my rig by my officemates(flashdisk after flashdisk). Thinking my antivirus could handle it well, so I just ignored it.

Unfortunately due to its peskiness (lop virus), it still comes out occasionally. And all my antivirus does is to put it in inside the vault. I guess it’s time to manually remove it.

As I have removed similar malicious malware before. I know “regedit” would do the job. But “lo and behold” I got this error message while trying to run regedit.exe “Regedit has been disabled by your administrator” WTF! – How come I didn’t know about it, I was the administrator of my pc! lol!

I soon found out that even my Task Manager was disabled. I immediately asked my techie friend for some advice. He also immediately responded and said “You have to reformat your drive!”

Whoa! Not again! We’ll during my younger days I always do that (formatting) but now it’s becoming a tedious remedy for me, NO WAY, I have to find a way to bring back my regedit and task manager!

Later that day I got myself a solution through my favorite site, TPC. I got myself a downloadable and executable file, it works and yes it’s FREE! It’s called the RRT – Remove Restriction  Tool from www.sergiwa.com.

So simple to use, no need to install. Just a few clicks, restart my pc, and that’s it! My regedit and task manager is back.

But the “lop” still exist on my pc! Waaahhhhh!!! Helppppp!!!

I haven’t post any websaytko updates for several months now. I guess I have to recall each and every little thing I’ve done with this site for record purposes and for public viewing also, lol! I’m gonna do this in random (whatever comes to my mind first, hehe)

1. Lost my PR4 (it still hurts, lol)
2. My third time to change my themes, from the default theme by Kubrick
(I didn’t actually used it), to Greening by Martin Mihalev,
and now Blue Stripes by Freakitude.
3. A fresh new header image of myself on the beach
(portraying a serious person, hahaha!)
4. Removed Auction Ads, ReviewMe Affiliate link and Your Ads Here banner
5. Added Category – Blind Items, Vouch Post
6. Added Blogroll – marjonelle.com and digital games
7. Added Favorites – delispam, myfriendsandme, my videos, galleon
8. Added widget – flickr, mybloglog
9. Added banner – Payperpost, Text-Link-Ads
10. Added page – Disclosure

Plus the site is still a bit shaky because of the topsite script. :(

Hibernation Ends

Posted by raredog in Techie Stuff, Uncate... | 01.12.2008 - 5:57 pm

At last! My very first post for this year. Exactly after a month of hibernation! It just feels good to be back! I know of bloggers already panicking for only an hour that they won’t see their sites online. What more if they experience what I’ve gone through.

Lots of sleepless nights, irritable, lonely, angry, and constantly in eccentric behavior all throughout this splendid ordeal. Im just happy that it’s all over now. Yehey! Its good to be back! (Hello there subscribers! Do you missed me? If there’s any? lol)

After my PR4 dropped to zero, my host suspended my account (datacenter recommends) because a portion of my php script is creating havoc on their servers and crashing it. I guess all my stats have significantly dropped again because of the situation. I have to work hard to regain what was loss. Alexa, Technorati and PR??? (who knows maybe they’ll give it back, haha).

And what did I do while my site was down? (You don’t wanna know hehehe). Well, I do some paint work at our house (walls not canvas lol), read a lot about the pagerank thingy, bought domains (nice time to buy domains because it’s relatively cheaper now because of the gaining Philippine peso), create t-shirt designs, bonding with my loved ones, Christmas shopping and parties, and everything else, just to make me forget that my site is digitally dead.

I also had the chance to make a short video (ala-CNN), thanks to Ms. Josephine for being so nice to act as my correspondent on this video. watch it
