Blogging Tool

Posted by raredog in Techie Stuff, ... | 05.31.2008 - 10:53 am

HTC WizardIts like hammer and saw to a carpenter, a blogger need some tools too for their work. Pen and paper is alright, but a more sophisticated equipment is much preferred. And that would be a computer (any pc that has a word processor), and a camera (capable of still and video is much better). From which I have found on my recently acquired HTC Wizard.

Its a Windows Mobile Pocket PC (PPC) with mobile phone capabilities. Running on Windows Mobile 6 (WM6), although the original unit has WM5. I have unlocked and upgraded it all by myself, well of course with the help of an expert (grinminded of airfagev and xda-developer forum).

This wizard have come a long way before it landed on my hand, lol! I actually found it on Ebay (the seller is in Miami) and I let my friend (Gerard) from New Jersey bought it for me. Very timely because his wife auntie is coming back home (free courier haha) and I just picked up the unit near my place.

So what does the HTC Wizard can do as a blogger tool. Well aside from all the usual stuff an ordinary mobile phone can do (sms and phone calls). It can also run lots of application that you find mostly on a personal computer; and it comes with an Office Mobile (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) so basically I can use the Word to write my blog using the stylus or the QWERTY keyboard that slides to its side when you need it.  A built in 1.3 megapixels camera (just right for snapshots and short clips). It can also play videos and mp3, a sound recorder if you want to do some podcasting or just to want to record a reminder, a drawing board for some sketching, and many more! But whatI really really like about it is that I can my write my blog almost anywhere (bus, restaurant, up a tree, hills, comfort room, etc..).

Connectivity from wired to wireless (infrared, bluetooth, direct cable, and wifi) So I can go online anytime or anywhere there is hotspot, GPRS or direct connection to upload my blog and photos. There are new models from HTC do check them out! But for the meantime I’ll just stick with my Wizard. So that’s my blogging tool. Handy and portable. What’s yours?

I am Me and I am okay

seminar streamerWhat an exciting way to spend the week knowing oneself than to spend it with six dozens of strangers. Yup that’s exactly the scenario when I attended the PPEP (Personal and Professional Enhancement Program) given by the SDD-HRDS of DepEd headed by their energetic Chief Mam Zaida T. Azcueta last week at the Pagsanjan Falls Lodge and Summer Resort.

The seminar teaches me a lot of important lessons in life. I explicitly learn to know more about myself. Who am I? What do I give? I get? and given up? How to accept changes in (life/work/environment/culture/technology) in order to be free, soliciting and likewise giving feedback, that I am a unique person and indefinable, that sometimes I need to stop talking and start listening. And to always practice the Golden Rule.

The activity we’ve done there simulates true values, teamwork, collaboration and effective communication with fellow participant or teammates. All of which we can apply on our personal or professional life. As it greatly enhanced us in the dynamic process of becoming…

Of course visiting Pagsanjan would not be complete without shooting the rapids, buying pasalubongs at the nearby town of Liliw and a courtesy call to their earnest leader, Mayor ER Ejercito.

Kudos to all of the speakers who has somehow (ika nga ni Sir Enz eh deeply touched) our lives – Helen Delos Santos, Jan Banquicio Jr., Minda Pelayo, Joseph Titar and Dr.Enz Rufin. Thanks also to the Management Team compose of Mercy, Elena, Fe, and (the hyperactive) Noel. Hope to see you again guys. (Invite nyo ulit ako ha!)

Pagsanjan Trip

Posted by raredog in Techie Stuff, A.U.T.... | 05.19.2008 - 8:20 am

geely washed for the nth time?Im going to Pagsanjan today (to attend a seminar for 4 days) riding my old but sturdy scooter Geely. I usually ride with a group but this would be the first time Im gonna do a (long distance – approx. 100kms) solo ride. I will be traversing the scenic and curvaceous roads of Antipolo, Teresa, Morong, Baras, Tanay, and Pililla (all towns of Rizal province) before reaching Laguna towns of Mabitac, Siniloan, Pangil, Pakil, Paete, Kalayaan, Lumban then finally Pagsanjan. Whew! Its gonna be our (Geely and Me) longest ride ever. My mind is set on doing this ride around two weeks ago, then suddenly Typhoon Cosme shows up. Then I have no choice but to go to plan B. (via bus) Woke up this morning, do some stretching outside and found out the cloud is somehow clear and the sun was shining on the horizon. “What a perfect day to ride” I say: Then it all goes back to plan A. I just hope there’s internet connection to the seminar venue so that I can update this post with photos and stories about my Pagsanjan adventure. Ok see you later. Wish me Luck! Last Update 24 May 2008 I just came back from Pagsanjan yesterday. And boy it was one helluvah (solo) ride. It was fun and exciting. It took me almost 3 hours to get there, including the stopovers. I have no pressure whatsoever on the speed I want (Geely) to go. I can go fast, slow or stop whenever I please. I guess that’s one of the advantage when you go solo. Good thing it doesn’t rain that hard the whole trip last Monday. It just drizzle when I’ve reached Caliraya until I have finally set my tires on Pagsanjan. The return trip yesterday was much more faster. I spent around 2 hours on the road. Unfortunately Cosme(the typhoon) finally caught me and decided to gave me a shower on the zigzag roads of Teresa, Rizal where there’s no shelter to go under. I have under my seat a raincoat which I decided not to wear but instead placed it on top of my bag which has my seminar certificate inside (much more important hehe). So by the time I got home I was soaking bigtime, but nevertheless happy! In my upcoming posts I would share about my seminar experience and the Pagsanjan Rapids. Watch out for it. A never before seen videos of the popular bangkeros and the story behind them.
