Minimalism

faucet

Mimimalism:  The Art of Less
Let’s see the subject of our picture in a different way. Let’s try to take a picture of something with one main focal point with no background clutter and no distractions. Let’s concentrate on just one main subject. Minimalism is about “simplicity”, emptiness & nothingness. Less is more.

Thinking what would be my entry for the “Minimalism Photo Challenge” this afternoon, and since I got no time to shoot outdoor, I guess I have no choice but to shoot indoor hehe.

That’s when I found my subject inside the (under renovation) Men’s Room at our office.  It’s not one of Grohe faucets you can find at some 5 star hotels, but it served well as my photo subject. :D

As you can see the faucet is kinda awkward position, that’s true. Its because it shouldn’t be there in the first place. The plumber place it there to stop the water from flowing, while waiting for the brand new urinals to be installed.

Reasons for sleeping and waking up early

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 03.09.2010 - 4:24 pm

Evening at 9 – 11pm : is the time for eliminating unnecessary/toxic chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on health.

Evening at 11pm – 1am: is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 – 3am: detoxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 3 – 5am: detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to
interfere with toxin removal process.

Morning 5 – 7am: detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 – 9am: absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 – 10am rather than no meal at all.

Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don’t sleep late.

Pacman versus The Hitter

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 03.07.2010 - 9:17 am

pacquiao vs clottey

If ever our office outing coincides with the fight of Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey this coming March 14, 2010, I just hope my officemate bring along his 18.4 widescreen Acer Aspire laptop  for us to watch it via online. And of course to have a decent 3G/HSDPA from where whereat.

I was really eyeing for the Pacquiao – Mayweather fight coz they’re both the best of the best. Nevertheless, I’m sure Manny is still conditioned for a victory whoever would be his opponent’s inside the ring. Go Go Go Manny! Kulutin mo si Clottey!!! haha!

From Miguel Cotto – Manny’s last opponent and won by TKO.

Elliptical Machines

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 03.02.2010 - 6:51 pm

elliptical machines

A busy person like me needs some quick exercise to burn those fats. Especially now that I’m gaining weight and my blood pressure is getting high during this hot weather.

That’s why I’m thinking of getting myself an e-machine. Nope, not the brand of pc but the real elliptical machines that looks like a bicycle but with only one wheel hehe.

I think I can spare some time before and after work on these machine. That way, I can loose some of those bad cholesterol without going to a gym. And just maybe, I can customize the design by having a laptop holder in front of me. Excercising while working at the same time hehe! :D

Hookah Experience

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 03.01.2010 - 7:13 pm

shisha or hookah

William Hickey

“Here everybody uses a hookah, and it is impossible to get on without. I have frequently heard men declare they would much rather be deprived of their dinner than their hookah.”

Having a good time has its limits too or better ask for a term life insurance quotes from your agent if your a stubborn person. I think you know what I’m saying, that everything you take in excess is bad for your health.

Just like when we tried the hookah or shisha during a birthday party of a friend. My friend Lhance brought it (the hookah) all the way from Saudi Arabia. Since I have some info that its somehow medicinal, (hmmmm me ganong factor pa eh noh) and out of my curiosity, I’ve smoked it together with other posse at the party.

I puffed out the cherry flavor tabaco from the sisha twice, and that’s it. Nothing extraordinary except of course the delectable flavor and the privilege of using an exquisitely designed hookah (waterpipe). Bottomline, Shisha is cool! But I don’t think I’ll ever be hooked of it for sure. :D

Philippine Hot Air Balloon

yellow cab hot air ballon

This photo was taken during the The 2010 Hot Air Balloon fiesta in Clark Pampanga.

Hot air baloon is an expensive and extreme sport in many aspect, that one would need at least more than a cheap car insurance before embracing the sport.

The fear of tremendous heights, limited space, strong wind and bursting balloon are the main factors you will encounter up there. I’m sure all of these are nothing compare to what the sport enthusiast feels when they are airborne. The fulfillment and joy seeing the world from up there. Kudos to all who were into these kind of sports. Enjoy and fly safely! :D

Edible Grass

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.20.2010 - 6:36 pm

edible grass

Did you guys know that there’s such a thing as “edible grass”?

Also known as “Edible Easter Grass”, this starch-based food is not exactly the type of herbal colon cleanser you can use to replace your veggies. If anything, the stuff tastes more like paper, because it was mainly designed as decoration for Easter baskets.

Although some grasses are edible by humans, sometimes only portions of it can be used. Humans eat the seeds of wheat, rye, corn, barley and even rice. Yes, rice IS a type of grass. However, unlike cows that have 4 stomachs, humans can’t eat the stalks or leaves of these types of grass (even the type that grows in our front yards), because their fiber is very tough, and not suitable for our sensitive digestive systems.

Maybe someday, science can make a real edible grass for humans. But it would be a rather scary thought, because we might have to end up pooping like goats. (Ano yun? Itim na jolen? XD)

LocoRoco Game

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.19.2010 - 12:59 pm

locoroco

Sometimes, it’s the weirdest games that are the most addicting. :D

I’m talking about the aptly named LocoRoco (aptly named kasi nakaka-loko siya XD), released last 2006, where you control creatures that look like those gelatin-like beads you see in a prescription acne medication. But instead of actually controlling the creatures, you control the world it moves in by “tilting” it left or right.

Initially considered a children’s game due to it’s simple controls, the cute sounds, characters and challenging gameplay has also attracted adult gamers as well. Even if it was overshadowed by some games like Tekken and Daxter during the year of it’s release, it still many awards and it’s character was even awarded the honor to be the PSP’s mascot.

It kind of makes me want to buy a PSP for Sean Kirk. Maybe he might go loco over LocoRoco as well.

Tilt-Shift Photo Technique

Yamaha Fiesta 2009 Tilt Shift

Enchanted Kingdom Tilt Shift

Lagoon inside Enchanted Kingdom

There’s another cool photo technique I would like to share with you today. Its called “tilt-shift”. Its so simple and easy, you don’t need to be a graphic expert or have a weatherization training to achieve this haha!

What is Tilt-Shift photos?

Tilt-shift miniature style photos are pictures of real-life scenes that are manipulated to look like model photographs.

The most suitable photo you could use here is a birds eye view shot. Like the one above. Its the mini lagoon inside Enchanted Kingdom where I shot when I was on board the Ferris wheel which is adjacent to the lagoon.

Got your pics ready? Then visit tiltshiftmaker.com and watch as it instantly convert your photos into instant miniature model. Enjoy!

Meet Bayonetta

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.18.2010 - 7:02 pm

Here’s a new heroine who is sure to beat out the guys of other video game platforms , specially the one that looks like he took some best testosterone booster pills *ahem-Kratos-ahem* XD

Meet Bayonetta. She’s a witch who’s in a quest to find her true identity, but along the road she has to fight her way against the forces of light. Yep, you heard me right. The usual role of the player fighting the forces of darkness has been reversed.

The game is available for the PS3, and it boasts some of the coolest graphics featured for the console, and it has a barrage of challenges that I’m sure a lot of players will enjoy (specially ones who like to achieve 100% completion rate on their games XD). Not to mention that after Lara Croft of Tomb Raider, seeing a cool chick in leather is quite an eye-candy. Plus she’s got guns in her shoes! How cool is that!?

It kind of make me wish I could buy a PS3 right away just to play this game… ~_~

In the eyes of Google

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.18.2010 - 12:27 pm

I’m ranting and raving since Tueday evening! I’m surprised to know that my site’s pagerank has skyrocketed to PR4!!! (from last New Year’s eve PR2) Isn’t that super cool! In two months time my site achieved again this rank. (I once experience PR4 3 years ago). For the benefit of those who had no basic idea what pagerank is about, here’s a short info from Wikimapia.

PageRank results from a “ballot” among all the other pages on the World Wide Web about how important a page is. A hyperlink to a page counts as a vote of support. The PageRank of a page is defined recursively and depends on the number and PageRank metric of all pages that link to it (“incoming links”). A page that is linked to by many pages with high PageRank receives a high rank itself. If there are no links to a web page there is no support for that page. Google assigns a numeric weighting from 0-10 for each webpage on the Internet; this PageRank denotes a site’s importance in the eyes of Google. The PageRank is derived from a theoretical probability value on a logarithmic scale like the Richter Scale.

Brief History of Websaytko Pagerank

May 2007 – PR4 (i’m just a noob in blogging, no idea whattaheck is pagerank)

Dec 2007 – PR0 – got smacked by the Google (loss my pagerank)

Mar 2008 – PR2 – I already forgot about it hehe (it went back to PR2)

It went back to ZERO again but I have no idea when, I think its during the last quarter of 2008 up to December 2009 (that was soooooo long)

New Year’s Eve 2009 – a news from Rai Marfil of bubblymiss.net – a blogger friend congratulating me for getting a PR2 (shocked!!!) and then last Tuesday evening – Yipeee a PR4!!! Thanks Google!!! :D

Pinoy Presidentiables 2010

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.17.2010 - 6:40 pm

Who will be the next president of the Philippines? That’s the question all of pinoy voters have in mind right now. Will it be Manny Villar, Gibo Teodoro, Jambi Madrigal, Joseph Estrada, Dick Gordon, Eddie Villanueva or Noynoy Aquino who at first don’t have any plan to run for president until his mom, the former President Corazon Aquino died from colon cancer. I guess we have to take colon cleansing herbs to shoo away that Big C. He was asked by his colleagues and supporters to run, he cogitated it over and after few days he proclaimed that he will run for the position.

When I watched some of the debates they had, I saw a new face (or it’s just me who’s not much aware of politics?) he’s John Carlos Delos Reyes. He’s new to me. Well I guess I have to research more about him. I’m glad that the nuisance candidates are now out from the list of presidentiables. We must know and study well the candidates in all positions, because we are the ones who will benefit in the end. So to all my kababayans on May 10, 2010… Let’s vote wisely. :D

Bedridden

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.17.2010 - 6:28 am

Mimicking the cool posed of an icon in Philippine rap culture is Darryl Smith. He tried to imitate the photo of his idol Francis Magalona, during the time when the rapper was still alive and bedridden.

This time Darryl put some  craziness originality by wearing a Zeus motorcycle helmet as an accessory haha! Good thing he didn’t request for an equestrian apparel to wear during this photo session, or else it would be more wackier! Oh by the way, Darryl was bedridden coz he recently had an appendix removal operation. Right now, he’s recuperating.

Young and Old

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.15.2010 - 2:12 pm

My mom needs a large dose of an anti aging product to cope up with his mega-hyper grandson Sean Kirk. She always lose her sight on the agile boy, especially when they’re on a huge place like a mall or at the park.

That’s why I always told my mom to be always alert and at least bring along a much younger companion to watch over the kid whenever they’re out somewhere. As with Sean Kirk, I told him  to behave properly and always stay near his lola Dolly whenever they’re on a stroll.

Long Sleep equals to Weight Loss

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.12.2010 - 2:25 pm

Did you know that aside from weight loss surgery and exercise, one of the other ways you can lose weight is from sleeping?

Studies have shown that insomniacs and short sleepers burn less calories than those who have slept longer when they wake up. Even when walking, overweight people who had a good night sleep burn over 1,000 calories more than those with normal weights who had lesser or no sleep.

Some doctors believe this is caused by several factors. Lack of sleep can cause disruption of our body’s natural hormones, which can result to overeating. Stress is also another factor, as people tend to eat more when they are stressed.

But of course, this doesn’t mean that people should sleep all the time. This just means that people should get at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep to lose weight. If you sleep way too much, your boss or teacher might get mad at you. XD

We Fit – Whip it – Wii Fit

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.09.2010 - 11:08 am

I’m thinking of getting myself a Wii Fit soon.

My siblings and I have always been moaning about how much we need to lose some weight, and since our PlayStation got washed up during Ondoy (no more Dance Dance Revolution T_T), we have been looking for another alternative console for our fun/ exercise needs.

As it turns out, Wii Fit has a collection of exercises that range from Yoga, aerobics strength training and balance exercises, which I guess would come in handy when I cross those bamboo poles/ bridges in the province… those things scare the heck out of me. ~_~

But first, I have to get enough money for it. Looks like my wallet has to go on a diet first. XD

Fish, Fruits and Veggies

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.08.2010 - 12:04 pm

I buy groceries every Sunday with Sean after attending mass. It is one of our bonding moment as we buy foods for his baon for the whole week. Sean enjoys this activity so much for he chooses his own food (but of course with my approval). He even enjoy inquiring prices thru a barcode scanner which can be found at the store. Even fish products has them too, as you can see from the photo above.  It’s also the time when I buy veggies for my diet too. :)

Tarot Card reading at Venice Piazza

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.05.2010 - 7:16 pm

venice piazza

Guess what! I’ve got to experience Tarot Reading for the first time at the Venice Piazza Psychic Festival at Mckinley Hill in Fort Bonifacio.

I was kinda hesitant at first because it reminds me of movies related toTarot Cards are spooky and with horrifying images like the Grim Reaper.

But Sir Lito from the Academic of wholistic Healing Arts, Inc. told me to just relax and don’t be afraid as he reads and interpret the cards I’ve chosen from the deck.

I got a not-so-good reading but far from bad naman. He just told me to focus on what I want, as it is very much possible to achieve, I just have concentrate on it.

All in all it was a mystical evening, as psychic readers, counselors and healers are all over the place. They will be holding the event at Venice Piazza starting February 5 up to 14, from 6 – 9 PM.

As for me and my friend Eric, we have fun and got full at the gourmet (Stackers Burger, Sol Gelato, Figaro, etc..walang isaw?? hehe), too bad we’ve missed the free massage and the chance to have a photo with the lovely Ms. Francine Prieto. :D

Ceramic or Vinyl Tiles

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 02.04.2010 - 4:17 pm

Last month my mom asked me to buy some vinyl tiles to replace worn out tiles we had in our living and dining room. Right away, I bought some (150 pieces) at a nearby hardware store and brought it home. My sister-in-law wants to have ceramic tiles rather than vinyl tiles. She said it’s more durable, long-lasting and more presentable. I agree with her but since we have to save money first for it’s more costly, I’ve choose  vinyl instead.

It’s good thing that we’ve finished the restoration ahead of schedule, because lately we’re being frequently visited by friends and relatives.

Ingat ka – Tanga ka pa naman

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 01.28.2010 - 2:51 pm

street sign

I recently won the Street Sign – Photo Challenge at Tipidpc.com (The Official Unified Point and Shoot Digital Camera Users Group). The group, composed of men and women that are point and shoot camera enthusiasts who organized a mini-challenge within the members. It’s actually the 46th challenge, and it was my second time to win haha. This time, out of 9 entries.

My photo entitled “Ingat ka, Tanga ka pa naman“, took me around 30 minutes of waiting time for the road to be clear of all moving vehicles so I can peacefully get a nice position in front of the dilapidated street sign. I got even startled by the loud alarm from the wireless security systems of cars parked nearby, as I leaned on one of them while adjusting the settings of my cam.

Anyway, I managed to took 9 shots before calling it a night and went home. Then I downloaded it to my lappie, picked one shot, re-size, mono-chromed, bordered, watermarked and post it as an entry. Before I knew it, it won the challenge :D

Lava Tuner

Posted by raredog in A.U.T.S., Putograpiy... | 01.24.2010 - 12:42 pm

tuner

I got mesmerized by its lava like glow that I waste no moment to capture it with my point-and-shoot before it gets cold hehe. Actually, its a knob for a tuner on a sub-woofer with a built-in AM-FM radio.

Unfortunately the spring plungers inside the mechanism was busted already. So it just rotates infinitely without picking any station. Gonna try to fix it someday.
